Copied from NALC's published amendments

These are the proposals on this subject as NALC printed them for the 2026 convention, in the July 2026 Postal Record. New language appears like this and language proposed for deletion appears struck through like this -- the same convention NALC itself uses. The 2028 resolution is still to be drafted; this is the record it starts from.

Discussion

About this resolution as a whole. To comment on particular wording, highlight it in the document above instead.

From the record Aug 19, 2026

The closest thing on the 2026 floor was Branch 458 (Oklahoma City), amending Art. 9 §1(h): it would have required newly created and newly filled positions, and their compensation, to be disclosed in Members Only. The official Chronicles do not state its individual disposition, and appointment-related proposals were reported defeated or withdrawn in aggregate.

Two related vacancy amendments did move. One requiring a vacancy caused by death or otherwise to be filled within 45 days was adopted by voice vote on Tuesday. Another, from Branches 709 (Reno), 2502 (Las Vegas) and 2778 (Sparks), would have required an Executive Council vacancy to be filled within 60 days unless the Council agreed to longer; its individual disposition is not stated in the public record.

So 2026 shows appetite for deadlines on filling vacancies, and much less traction for disclosure and process around who gets hired.
